The U.S. Men’s National Team begins its 2026 World Cup campaign today, June 12, as the tournament returns to the United States for the first time in 32 years. The U.S. Is one of three host nations, alongside Canada and Mexico. The tournament features 48 teams and 104 matches over 39 days. The U.S. Team, which reached the Round of 16 in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, is placed in Group D. Their group stage schedule includes a match against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, at 9 p.m. ET today. They will face Australia at Seattle’s Lumen Field on June 17 at 3 p.m. ET, followed by a match against Turkey at SoFi Stadium on June 25 at 10 p.m. ET. The squad is led by head coach Mauricio Pochettino, who previously managed PSG and Chelsea. Team captain Tim Ream, a defender for Charlotte FC, told CBS News that while the team faces “added responsibility” playing for 330 million people, he has no doubt they could potentially win. The roster includes veterans and first-timers, such as Christian Pulisic of AC Milan and Folarin Balogun of AS Monaco. Former U.S. Player John Harkes told the BBC that the team is “very talented” and possesses “better resources” and more experience in Europe’s big leagues than previous squads. The knockout stage begins June 28. If the U.S. Wins Group D, they will play on July 1 at 8 p.m. ET in Santa Clara, California. If they finish as the runner-up, they will play July 3 at 2 p.m. ET in Dallas. The round of 16 is scheduled for July 4 to July 7, with the quarterfinals on July 9 to July 10, the semifinals on July 14, and the final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
