NBA Finals Knicks Spurs Basketball

The New York Knicks hold a 3-1 lead over the San Antonio Spurs heading into Game 5 of the NBA Finals in San Antonio on Saturday, June 13, 2026. The Knicks are seeking their first championship since 1973. Following a 107-106 victory in Game 4, the Knicks completed the largest comeback in NBA Finals history, rallying from a 29-point deficit. The Knicks have won three of their four closeout opportunities this season, averaging a 39.3-point margin of victory in those games while on the road. The San Antonio Spurs have implemented a 150-mile rule for tickets sold through Ticketmaster, which warns that purchases made with billing addresses outside that radius from the Frost Bank Center will be canceled and refunded. The Spurs stated the policy aims to prioritize local fans from San Antonio, Austin, and surrounding communities and to mitigate a “blue-and-orange takeover.” While the policy has been in place throughout the postseason, the Spurs noted challenges in enforcement because tickets can be transferred or resold through various channels. Concerns arose among Knicks fans regarding the possibility of ticket cancellations after traveling to Texas. New York Governor Kathy Hochul expressed her concerns on X, calling for the Spurs and Ticketmaster to reverse the decision. However, Madison Square Garden Sports released a statement on Saturday confirming with Spurs ownership that they will not revoke tickets for Knicks fans attending Game 5 and all ticket holders will be allowed into the arena. The Knicks’ roster features three former Villanova teammates: Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, and Josh Hart. Former Villanova staff and players have noted that the team’s success is rooted in fundamentals taught by former coach Jay Wright, including “hands back” defensive techniques and a “five-out” offense. The team is noted for its levelheadedness and work ethic, with several players having maintained rigorous training habits throughout their careers.
