Sweden beat Tunisia 5-1 in strong start to World Cup

Sweden defeated Tunisia 5-1 in a World Cup Group F fixture hosted in Guadalupe. Sweden took the lead in the seventh minute with a goal from midfielder Yasin Ayari, who is of Moroccan and Tunisian descent. Alexander Isak doubled the lead on a rapid break, followed by an Omar Rekik header before half-time. In the 59th minute, Viktor Gyokeres scored after a defensive mix-up, and substitute Mattias Svanberg added a fourth goal late in the match after a VAR decision ruled him onside. Ayari scored a final goal from outside the penalty box. In another group match, Germany secured a 7-1 victory over Curaçao at Houston Stadium. Felix Nmecha opened the scoring in the sixth minute, and Kai Havertz added two goals, including a penalty in first-half stoppage time. After Livano Comenencia equalized for Curaçao in the 21st minute, Germany took the lead again with a Nico Schlotterbeck header. Jamal Musiala, Nathaniel Brown, and Deniz Undav all scored to extend the margin. The match featured the largest age gap between coaches in World Cup history, with 78-year-old Dick Advocaat leading Curaçao against 38-year-old Julian Nagelsmann. Ivory Coast secured a 1-0 win over Ecuador at the Philadelphia Stadium. Amad Diallo, who entered as a substitute in the 56th minute, scored in the 90th minute with a left-footed shot. The match saw the crossbar hit three times. Ivory Coast, which did not concede a goal during qualifying, will next face Germany, while Ecuador will face Curaçao. Uruguay arrived in Miami on Sunday following travel complications involving a flight from Mexico. The Uruguay Football Association stated the delay was due to problems beyond its control, while FIFA attributed the issue to an airline permitting error in Mexico. The delay caused coach Marcelo Bielsa and captain Jose Maria Gimenez to miss a scheduled news conference. Uruguay is scheduled to face Saudi Arabia in Miami on Monday.
