Submission Terms
How to submit
Opinion, short fiction, poetry, and comics: email [email protected] and tell us the section. Letters for Dear Tinker: [email protected]. Every submission is read and either accepted or declined by a human editor. We do not auto-publish, and we may take a while.
The terms you agree to
- You keep your copyright. Ownership of your work stays with you.
- License you grant. By submitting, you grant The TinkerWire, its parent companies, and affiliates a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free license to publish, edit, archive, recirculate, display, and distribute your submission on The TinkerWire and its associated channels.
- First-publication credit. You remain free to republish your work elsewhere. If you do, you must credit The TinkerWire as the original publisher, with the line "First published at The TinkerWire" or substantially similar.
- No payment. Submissions are unpaid. You will not receive compensation for any work we publish.
- Your representations. You represent and warrant that the work is your own or that you hold all rights needed to submit and license it; that it infringes no copyright, trademark, or other right; that it is not defamatory or unlawful; and that any third-party material is used with permission or under a valid exception.
- Ownership disputes are yours. You are solely responsible for the originality and ownership of your submission. You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless The TinkerWire, 4Kings Enterprises, and their affiliates from any claim, demand, or cost arising from your submission, including claims of copyright infringement, plagiarism, or disputed ownership. Any such claim is directed to you as the submitter.
- AI-generated content. AI-assisted or AI-generated work is welcome on two conditions: you disclose the use of AI when you submit, and you hold the rights needed to publish the result. Undisclosed AI work may be declined or removed.
- Editing. We may edit submissions for length, clarity, and style.
- Eligibility declaration. By submitting, you declare that you are 18 or older, legally able to agree to these terms, and that you hold the rights to your submission.
- Our discretion. We may decline, hold, or remove any submission at any time, for any reason.
- Acceptance. Sending a work to any TinkerWire address, including agora@ and deartinker@, means you accept these terms.
- Dear Tinker letters may be published, edited, and anonymized. By writing in, you consent to publication.
- Withdrawal and removal. You may withdraw a submission at any time before we publish it. Once published, the license above is irrevocable: we may keep the work archived and recirculate it within the granted scope. Removal of a published piece is at our sole discretion and is not a right you can require. On request we will consider anonymizing future display of your name, at our discretion.
